The Timeline of Transformation: Understanding Orthodontic Treatment Durations - Dante Gonzales Orthodontics

At Dr. Dante Gonzales’s office, we pride ourselves on providing personalized orthodontic care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Our journey begins with a comprehensive examination and consultations, where we assess orthodontic needs and craft individualized treatment plans. This initial treatment planning phase can take a few days to a few weeks, but it allows us to lay the groundwork for a successful treatment journey.

Once treatment begins, patients enter the active phase, where braces or aligners are utilized to gradually shift teeth into their desired positions. Throughout this phase, our team closely monitors progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal results. The duration of the active phase varies depending on the complexity of the case, ranging from several months to a few years.

Following the active treatment phase, patients transition into the retention phase, where retainers are worn to maintain the newly aligned teeth. This phase is essential for preventing relapse (teeth getting crooked again). Most orthodontists will recommend lifetime retention. Once the teeth are straightened, it’s very important to keep wearing the retainer as long as you want to keep the teeth straight.

Throughout the treatment journey, patients receive ongoing support and guidance from our dedicated team of orthodontic professionals. By understanding the timeline of orthodontic treatment durations, patients can feel confident and informed as they embark on their journey towards a straighter, healthier smile.
